For An Annual Congregational Meeting

Would you help us, God?
Would you help us to look back on our life together?
Would you help us to see how you’ve lifted us up?
Would you help us to see what we’re to do next?
Would you help us to be
Christ’s people in this place?
Would you help us, God?
Because we really need your help.
In Christ’s name, we ask it. Amen.

For An Annual Congregational Meeting

One: We stand at the door of God’s house.
All: Looking back
and looking forward.

One: We stand at the door of our lives.
All: Wondering what we’ll find
when we open it wid
e.
One: We stand at the door of this moment.
All: Knowing that God is here.
Knowing that God is with us –
no matter what.

One: Live or die – or be reborn.
God is with us. Alleluia!

Epiphany 2 – Year B – 1 Samuel 3:1-20

You speak in unexpected places,
and with unexpected voices, God.
And we aren’t always sure
how to listen.
We aren’t always sure
who to listen to.
We aren’t always sure
if we’re really hearing you.
Be blunt with us, please.
Be clear.
Give us the challenge
of loving you,
of loving the other,
of loving ourselves.
And help us to live it out!
Because you are God
who loves us all,
even when we don’t know
where to turn.
In Jesus’ name we ask it.
Amen!

Epiphany 2 – Year B – 1 Samuel 3:1-20

One: What do you do,
when God calls?
All: Wake up.
Listen.
Act.

One: What do you do,
when God asks you
to do something
difficult?
All: Wake up.
Listen.
Act.

One: What do you do,
when God asks you
to do something impossible?
All: Wake up.
Listen.
Act.
Because, with God,
nothing is impossible.

One: Even changing ourselves?
All: Even changing the world.
Wake up.
Listen.
Act.

One: And, with all this living,
All: we worship God.

A Reworking of Wesley’s covenant renewal

I am completely yours, God.
Show me what I need to do.
Place me with the people you will. Even if it hurts.
Use my skills or set them aside as you need.
Lift me up or bring me down.
Give me what I need. Or don’t.
Because I freely offer to you my whole self.

Holy One,
my Creator, my Redeemer and my Sustainer,
you are my God,
and I am your child.

Let it always be so.

May these promises be blessed
by your wisdom and love.

Amen.

For the New Year – Luke 2:22-40

One: The circle of the year has turned again.
All: Endings and beginnings.
Birth and death.
Changes and transitions.

One: The circle of the year has turned again.
All: But in all of the change,
there is one sure thing –
God is present.

One: God is present.
All: We are not alone.
One: We are not alone.
All: Thanks be to God!
