Communion Liturgy

One: God is with you.
All: And also with you.
Two: Lift up your hearts.
All: We lift them up to God.
One: Let us give thanks to God, our God!
All: Thank you, God!
Two: Yes, thank you, God, for all of the gifts
you have given Creation –
love, life and being!
Thank you for making everything,
from the littlest bug
to the biggest galazy.
Thank you for loving creation so much
that you dance with it every moment
of every day, in every day of every year –
from the before the beginning
until after the end!

All: Thank you, God!
One: We say, “Thank you, God!” because we know
that even when we human beings make mistakes –
little ones and big ones –
even when we hurt ourselves,
when we hurt one another,
when we hurt creation,
when we hurt you –
you never leave us. You never walk away.
You call us back to your love,
over and over again.
You call us back into community.
You call us back into communion –
into wholeness and hope.
All: Thank you, God!
Two: In Jesus, the Christ,
you taught us what it meant to be truly loved.
In Jesus, the Christ,
you taught us what it meant to be welcomed home.
Through his birth, through his life,
through his death and resurrection,
you offered life,
to his disciples – to us – to all creation.

All: He let us know that,
no matter what,
you love us with a love that can never end.
Hallelujah!

One: We remember the night before he was put to death
Jesus gathered with his friends and family,
and celebrated the story of his people.
He took the bread and gave thanks to you,
then gave it to his friends, saying,
“This is my body, given for you.
Whenever you eat it, remember me.”
He took a cup, filled with wine,
and gave thanks to you,
then he gave it to his friends, saying,
“This is my promise, in my life’s-blood.
Every time you drink, remember me.”
Two: So we eat, we drink, and we remember.
All: We eat, we drink, and we remember.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil,
for thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
forever and ever. Amen.

One: The gifts of God,
blessed by God’s spirit!
All: Alleluia!
Two: This gifts of God,
for all God’s creation!

All: Alleluia, amen!
