Epiphany – Year A (1 Corinthians 1.10-18)

One: Have you ever walked in a mist,
wandered in a cloud,
or blundered through the fog?
All: Wondering if my next step
will fall on sturdy ground,
or into the rough!
One: Knowing that somewhere
in front – around –
stands a way-station.
All: A place to stop,
to catch my breath.
One: A place of clarity,
and safety and…
All: Light!
Two: Have you ever walked in a mist,
wandered in a cloud,
or blundered through the fog?
All: Wondering if my next step
will fall on sturdy ground,
or into the rough!
Two: And you see a light,
pushing through the gloom,
a beacon on your journey.
One: But…
Two: But?
All: Beacons can be signals of safety
or signals of warning.
Way-stations or light-houses.
Safety or danger.
One: This Christ-light.
Two: This Epiphany-bright.
All: Way-station, light-house –
or
both?
