Ezekiel 31.1-14

Call to Gather:
One: Dry bones… do you hear?
All: Hear what?
One: Dry bones… do you hear
God’s word?
All: We’re listening.
One: Dry bones… God says Live.
All: We’re tired.
We’re broken.
We’re dry bones.

One: Dry bones… God says, LIVE!
All: How can we live?
One: By the grace of God.
All: How shall we live?
One: By the power of the Spirit.
All: How will we live?
One: Given life by God’s love!
Oh, Dry Bones…
hear the word of the Lord:
Live! Breath! Come home!
(Leader takes a deep breath,
and blows it out to the congregation.)

All: (Congregation takes a deep breath,
and blows it back to the leader!)

One: And the people said –
All: Amen!

Opening Prayer:
All: We gather to remember, God.
We gather to remember life,
to wonder about death,
to celebrate that you are with us –
every step of this journey.
We bless you for the love
that calls us to life,
that calls us to live,
that calls us to live anew.
Help us to remember that life –
all life –
is yours.
A gift of overwhelming wonder!
Amen!

*Opening Prayer
All: What do we do with this story, God?
Do we say, “It’s unbelievable!”
and refuse to see the possibilities?
Do we say, “Maybe in Spirit, but the body?”
and close our minds to miracle?
Do we say, “The Bible says it,
gotta believe it!”
and shut our minds to the incredible?

You are greater than we can ask,
or imagine, loving God.

So we celebrate that,
no matter what we say,
you are with us.

In life. In death. In life beyond death.
ALLELUIA! AMEN!

Not just ‘in the Bible’.
But, right here and right now:
All: God is still speaking.
One: So, let our listening
be our worship.

always.
In Christ’s name we ask it. Amen.
