Matthew 15.21-28

One: For the times we turn away,
forgive us, Creator.
All: Forgive us, Creator.
One: For the times we believe
that only people like us
can teach us,
forgive us, Christ.
All: Forgive us, Christ.
One: For the times we hoard our love,
keeping it locked up and hidden;
for the times we try to hoard Your love,
working to keep it just for us –
for people who look like us,
or believe what we believe –
forgive us, Holy Spirit.
All: Forgive us, Holy Spirit.
One: Forgive us, God –
and in that forgiving,
help us to be whole –
the people you’ve created us to be.
(A time for silent prayer.)
People of Christ – remember,
there is nothing that can separate
creation from God’s love!
We are forgiven!

One: What does it mean,
“To be salt and light to the world?”

Matthew 5.38-48

Call to Gather
One: The world says:
All: “Love your neighbours,
and hate your enemies.”

One: But Jesus said –
All: that’s not good enough.
One: “Love your neighbours.
All: Love your enemies.
Pray for them.”

One: That’s what Jesus said.
All: Love my enemy?
One: Love your neighbour.
Love your enemy.
Pray for them.
All: What was Jesus
trying to teach us?

One: Perhaps, if we open our ears,
our hearts and our minds,
we’ll figure that out.
All: Then let us worship God!

Opening Prayer
All: God –
you are great,
you are wonderful,
you are more than we can begin
to imagine!
You loved creation into being.
You love us into wholeness.
Alleluia!
But, we have a question for you.
Do you really think we can do it?
Do you really believe
that we can be more than we are?
Do you really believe
that humankind can be
what you want us to be?
Fill us with your love, we pray.
Pour down your wisdom, we ask.
Change us with your grace.
Because we know we can’t do it alone.
Amen.

Easter Sunday – John 20.1-18

Call to Gather:
One: Christ is risen!
All: Christ is risen, indeed!
One: Alleluia!
All: Alleluia, amen!
One: We come to hear the story of Christ,
risen from the dead.

lives made new.

One: We come to remember who we are.
All: An Easter people!
One: We come to remember whose we are.
All: Disciples of the Christ.
One: In joy, in wonder, in love…
All: We worship God!
ALLELUIA!

*Opening Prayer
All: What do we do with this story, God?
Do we say, “It’s unbelievable!”
and refuse to see the possibilities?
Do we say, “Maybe in Spirit, but the body?”
and close our minds to miracle?
Do we say, “The Bible says it,
gotta believe it!”
and shut our minds to the incredible?

You are greater than we can ask,
or imagine, loving God.

So we celebrate that,
no matter what we say,
you are with us.

In life. In death. In life beyond death.
ALLELUIA! AMEN!

Season of Easter – Acts 9.1-19

All: Sometimes it feels like
we’re in the middle of a whirlwind,
God.
We don’t know if we’re coming,
or going.
In the stops and starts
of our everyday living,
help us to find a place of peacefulness.
A place of calmness.
A place where we are whole.
In this place, help us to know
that you are with your Creation,
always.
In Christ’s name we ask it. Amen.

We ask for your wisdom.
With your love,
make us into
justice-bearers and peace-bearers,
in the life of all creation.
In your love, we ask it.
Please, let it be so.
